Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University was ranked
second for Best Online Bachelor's Program by U.S. News
& World Report in 2023, and the university also received a
second-place ranking for Best Online Bachelor's Programs
for Veterans.
NPS HOPES TO STREAMLINE STUDENTS
TO GROWING AVIATION INDUSTRY
Growth in aviation and aeronautics throughout
Oklahoma prompted Norman Public Schools to invest
in its aviation program. " In 2017, there was one school
teaching the AOPA curriculum. As of now, there are 57,
and the Norman Aviation Academy is one of them, " said
Paula Kedy, aerospace and aviation education coordinator
at Oklahoma Aeronautics Division.
CHARTING CHANGES CAUSE CONCERN
Recent charting changes have blindsided pilots and
provoked outcry on social media. The FAA clarified some
changes with a revised notice that came largely as a result
of discussions with AOPA.
EXTRA HURDLES TEST FOREIGN STUDENT PILOTS
The need for new pilots is ramping up globally and many
airlines are sending new applicants to U.S. schools

LODA RELIEF IMPLEMENTED FOR
MOST EXPERIMENTAL OWNERS
Most owners of experimental aircraft no longer need
special authorization to get training or checkouts
thanks to a notification of policy published by the
FAA on Feb. 8. The relief from the requirement for
a letter of deviation authority (LODA) for paid training
in an experimental airplane was in the James M. Inhofe
National Defense Authorization Act passed by Congress
in late 2022 and relieved a paperwork nuisance for
owners and CFIs.
CFI SUMMIT IN THE WORKS
The National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI)
will hold its inaugural flight instruction safety and
business summit October 24 to 26, 2023, on the SUN 'n
FUN campus at Lakeland Linder International Airport
in Florida. The summit is for current and prospective
certificated flight instructors, aviation leaders, industry
advocates, and government representatives, according to
association officials.
FAA'S ENGLISH LANGUAGE STANDARDS
LEAVE GAPS FOR LEARNERS
Language and comprehension skills are necessary for
successful communication in nearly every field, but in the
safety-critical field of aviation, miscommunication and/
or misunderstanding can lead to a runway incident or
accident, or worse, a midair collision.
FAA EXTENDING AIRCRAFT REGISTRATION PERIOD
Aircraft owners will have more time to renew their
aircraft registration now that the FAA has issued a
new rule to extend the duration of certificates from
three to seven years.
FAA PUBLISHES 'AVIATION WEATHER HANDBOOK'
The FAA's Aviation Weather Handbook consolidates
weather information from several advisory circulars into
one place and operates as a technical reference for anyone
