YOU CAN FLY Special tip for new users: Check out the Resources tab where you can find step-by-step instructions for using AFTA. Bonus tip: I really like the Activities tab that houses all the teaching tips and student resources. STUDENT WEB PORTAL The Student web portal is what you would likely imagine. It shows their next and past lessons so they can see how to prepare for their next flight and review what they've already accomplished. The Student Progress section includes a breakdown of how far they are along the way to mastering the ACS tasks needed to take their checkrides. This can help eliminate-or answer-the ageold question, " How much is there left for me to do? " The most important part of this section for me-we can help our students help themselves by being as prepared as possible for each lesson. Not yet participating in the free program? Check it out to see how AFTA might help make flight training easier for you and your students. Visit aopa.org/afta to review additional highlights and register for the program. It's free for CFIs, flight schools, and students who are AOPA members. Chris Moser is YCF Senior Director of Flight Training Education. You Can Fly and the Air Safety Institute are supported by donations to the AOPA Foundation (aopafoundation.org/donate).https://aopa.org/training-and-safety/flight-schools/aopa-flight-training-advantage http://aopafoundation.org/donate
