Preflight involves removing the seat backs to check levels of the glycolbased coolant. Rotating the handle locks the cabin doors; a pneumatic pump adjusts lumbar support in the seats. Air intakes assist with cooling of the liquid-cooled batteries. Initial batteries must be swapped out at 500 hours, and the fleet is moving to on-condition replacements where subsequent batteries are replaced when the state of health reaches 0 percent. Adjustable pedals control the rudder via cable; pushrod flaperon controls facilitate wing removal for trailering. AOPA PILOT / January 2024 67
