Would you like to answer our questions? Contact Aimee Condayan at arcondayan@ apma.org. Dr. Robert Kilgour was my physiology professor in University. He was the first person in academics who taught me that you can be bright, personable, and successful. 7. 8. 1. When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I always knew I would end up being a doctor. What is your favorite vacation spot, and why? San Diego. Amazing weather, surf is spectacular, and it’s just an all-around amazing place. What is the most indispensable piece of technology you own? My Macbook. 9. 2. What do you do for fun during your time off? Play guitar, work out, dabble with R/C cars and helicopters, surf, but mostly hang out with my awesome young kids! Tell us about a patient who changed your life/ your approach to medicine/ your outlook. 3. 4. What is your favorite movie? “Shawshank Redemption.” If you could meet any famous person, who would it be, and why? Eric Clapton, because he’s been through so much as a person, and is the greatest living guitar player. Music is my passion (besides work and family), and he embodies that in his playing. 10. What mistake have you made that taught you a great lesson? I trusted a close friend in business and almost lost everything I had worked so hard to build in my professional and financial life. My trust was sorely misplaced, and it has taught me to be a lot more diligent about whom I let close and how I manage things. Sadly, this lesson was at a great personal expense to me, but now I am on the other side and it’s all good. n 5. Why is podiatry the best career for you? I love to interact with people and podiatry lets me use my handiness to help them as well. 6. When all was said and done, she walked normally for the first time in her life. She and her parents cried when she walked in normal shoes with a normal gait and had no pain. That was a very powerful moment and taught me about the healing that is possible with determination, knowledge, and skill.
