Affiliates Corner APMWA Announces 26th Annual Student Writing Competition The American Podiatric Medical Writers Association (APMWA) has announced its 26th Annual Student Writing Competition. All papers must be nontechnical in nature. Appropriate subjects include practice management, ethics, law, education, or any topic that would be suitable for a lay publication. There is no word limit. Papers will be graded for content, style, grammar, neatness, and overall impact. First prize will be $1,000, sponsored by an APMA Educational Foundation endowment from Dr. and Mrs. Steven Berlin, and recognition in APMA News and the APMWA newsletter. Honorable mention certificates may also be awarded. This competition is open to any enrolled podiatric student. Entries must be e-mailed to bblock@podiatrym.com by April 15, 2012. Lauderdale, FL, January 5–8. The summit’s sellout crowd witnessed glorious weather and an action-packed program featuring more than 30 of the best presenters and practice consultants the profession has to offer. The event, which attracts podiatrists and executive managers from the top practices across the country, also featured two special guests: Lee Rogers, DPM, a candidate for Califor- 2012 ACFAOM Annual Clinical Conference to Feature ASPS The American College of Foot & Ankle Orthopedics & Medicine (ACFAOM) is pleased to feature the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons (ASPS) at its 2012 Annual Clinical Conference, allowing both groups to deliver new value to their respective members. ASPS will present a surgical track of lectures and workshops at the conference to be held October 11–14 in Orlando. This is the first time the two APMAaffiliated specialty organizations will work together. Both groups are excited to offer members diverse, specialized educational content. As an added bonus, ASPS members may attend the three-day clinical conference at the ACFAOM member registration rate. ACFAOM’s Annual Clinical Conference was established in 2008, and in the past has welcomed other APMA affiliates to present at the conference, including the American College of Foot and Ankle Pediatrics, the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine, and the American College of Podiatric Radiology (now ACFAOM’s Podiatric Imaging Council).
