AAPSM President Puts Education First
American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (AAPSM)
President Amol Saxena, DPM, is on a mission to visit as
many of the podiatry colleges as he can to impart information about AAPSM and sports medicine. His tour began in February at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine. When he was in New York in April, he
stopped by the Montefiore Medical Center residency program, led by AAPSM fellow Eric Walters, DPM, to give a
brief overview of AAPSM and opportunities available to
students and residents.
He then gave grand rounds at the Montefiore program
on April 3, followed by a visit with students from the New
York College of Podiatric Medicine on April 4. He visited
with students at the California School of Podiatric Medicine at Samuel Merritt University on April 15, and students at Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine at the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and

ASPMA Certification Courses and
Exams at The National
The American Society of Podiatric Medical Assistants
(ASPMA) offers certification review courses and examinations in two categories: clinical and administrative. These
activities are available only to ASPMA members and require preregistration. ASPMA membership must be obtained 90 days prior to the date of the exam. Assistants
must be registered for the Assistants' Program at the APMA
2017 Annual Scientific Meeting (The National) to be eligible to take the examinations. The review courses take place
on Thursday, July 27, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and the examinations
are on Friday, July 28, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
ASPMA members are required to submit the completed
registration form and $140 examination fee no later than
June 26. A late fee will be added for those registering after
the deadline.
