APMA CPA Awards 2020 Innovation Grants
The 2020 awards were given to the following 10 state
components:
1. California Podiatric Medical Association
2. Colorado Podiatric Medical Association
3. Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association
4. Illinois Podiatric Medical Association
5. Maine Podiatric Medical Association
6. Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association
7. New Mexico Podiatric Medical Association
8. South Carolina Podiatric Medical Association
9. Texas Podiatric Medical Association
10. Washington State Podiatric Medical Association
Through the CPA, APMA will continue to focus its efforts on helping state components with updating scope-ofpractice laws commensurate with the education, training,
and experience of doctors of podiatric medicine.

This is the third consecutive year that Innovation Grants have been awarded to state
components. Past grants have been used to create a video about the profession
for state legislatures, assist in relationship-building efforts with state
medical societies, host state legislature briefings, and many other initiatives.

The APMA Center for Professional Advocacy (CPA) recently announced that 10 state components will receive an
Innovation Grant in 2020. These grants are designed to
help state components with their scope-of-practice and
physician definition advocacy efforts and their efforts to educate and build relationships with MD/DOs, policymakers,
and payers.
The purpose of the grants is to incentivize state component leaders to develop innovative advocacy initiatives
to advance the profession. More information is available at

This is the third consecutive year that Innovation Grants
have been awarded to state components. Past grants have
been used to create a video about the profession for state
legislatures, assist in relationship-building efforts with state
medical societies, host state legislature briefings, and many
other initiatives. Innovation Grant recipients are required to
report on their efforts throughout the year and share their
experiences at the APMA State Advocacy Forum.
This year, 14 state components applied for one of the 10
$1,000 grants. All applicants had impressive applications,
and APMA is confident that these proposals will help move
the profession forward at the state and federal levels.
