Dr. Armstrong Awarded Raine 2019 Visiting Professorship Medal
David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, was awarded the
Raine Medical Research Foundation's 2019 Visiting Professorship at the University of Western Australia in December by the university's Vice Chancellor for Research, Prof.
Tim Colmer.
The award is intended to foster long-term partnerships
among researchers worldwide. Dr. Armstrong first received
the award in 2013. He stated he is the first podiatric surgeon to receive the honor, and among a very few to have
received it twice.
The Raine Medical Research Foundation represents the
largest bequest received by The University of Western Australia for medical research. It has supported major research
projects, fellowships, and scholarships, and participated in
major joint ventures.
The award is intended to foster

Dr. Armstrong Appointed to Rancho
Research Institute Board of Directors
David G. Armstrong, DPM, MD, PhD, professor of Surgery and director of the Southwestern Academic Limb Salvage Alliance at the University of Southern California, was
unanimously appointed to the Rancho Research Institute
(RRI) Board of Directors. The RRI is a world-renowned
program at the National Rehabilitation Center at Rancho
Los Amigos in Los Angeles, dedicated to conducting innovative research to improve the quality of life of people with
disabilities.
"The RRI and Rancho have been leaders in stroke, spinal cord, and amputee research for generations," said
Phil Requejo, PhD, CEO of RRI. "Our key initiative is to
add limb preservation to that list, and we can't think of
anyone more qualified to help us along that way than Dr.
Armstrong." Dr. Armstrong's tenure began in December
and includes oversight and guidance on research and
development, technology launch, and clinical/community education.
