A $35.00 subscription to APMA News is
included in the annual membership dues of

As this issue of APMA News was going to press, growing concerns about the
spread of COVID-19, a novel coronavirus, prompted APMA to cancel its House of
Delegates meeting. Within days, the World Health Organization had declared a
pandemic, and the CDC and local governments nationwide were taking measures
to enforce social distancing in an effort to slow the spread of the disease.
APMA recognizes that its members are concerned about the very real impact
of the disease on their patients, their practices, and their families. Your association continues to work for its members every day despite the challenging circumstances worldwide. APMA has assembled a wealth of resources and recommendations around COVID-19, available at www.apma.org/covid19. Also be sure
to read our FAQ at www.apma.org/covid19faq, as well as important information
about small business assistance at www.apma.org/covid19sba.

As a result of the rapid evolution of events just as APMA News was headed
to print, you may notice some changes in this edition of your member magazine. For example, the transcript of the incoming president's inaugural speech
will not appear in this issue as planned. Seth A. Rubenstein, DPM, the incoming president, was unable to address to the House of Delegates (he will deliver
his speech at a later date, likely during the Annual Scientific Meeting in Boston, July 23-26, and APMA will publish the transcript to the full membership
at that time).
On page 14, you will read about our plans for a Foot Health Awareness Month
campaign originally slated for April around plantar fasciitis. The materials for
that campaign are available at www.apma.org/plantarfasciitis, and members are
welcome to use them. However, APMA has put plans for the national effort
around that campaign on hold until a later date, as we are cognizant that many
members are choosing to treat only emergent conditions at this time. Instead,
watch for information from APMA designed to help educate patients about
what conditions should prompt them to see a podiatrist (or seek telehealth
services from a podiatrist) under the current circumstances.
Remember in these difficult times that APMA is here for its members, and
contact your association if you need assistance. We wish you and your loved ones
good health.
