INSTAGRAM TIPS TO HELP YOUR
PERSONALITY (AND PRACTICE) SHINE
Social media is a mainstay, as a vehicle for both news consumption and
personal expression. Perhaps no platform allows users to show personality like
Instagram, with its emphasis on images and videos for storytelling. Here are a
few tips that can help maximize your Instagram experience for your practice
and personal use.

A NOTE ON URLS
One of the key differences between
Instagram and other social media
platforms is that Instagram does not
allow link-sharing within a post. You
can write out URLs, but they will not
be active hyperlinks. You can, however, have an active URL on your
profile page. If you are accustomed
to using social media to redirect followers to other content, you will
need to adjust your approach.

USE HASHTAGS
With the lack of URLs, hashtags take
center stage on Instagram. They
have become the main method to
search content, increase your reach,
and get more eyes on your posts.

Instagram allows up to 30 hashtags per post,
but be smart about which ones you choose.
Use hashtags that are relevant to your content but not so general that you end up wildly
off message. Try using them sparingly in the
main text and instead, include them at the
end of your post with line-breaking format. If
you're new to line-breaking code that formats
Instagram text, take the guesswork out of it
by using an app like Caption Writer.

he World Health Organization
(WHO) has declared the outbreak of respiratory disease
caused by a novel coronavirus a
pandemic. For APMA, the impact
has included canceling the 2020
House of Delegates and the The Coding Seminar, scheduled for March 28
in Dallas. In fact, in this space we
had hoped to share with our readers
information about the first full-voting
YP representative on the APMA
Board of Trustees, but as of press
time the election is still pending.
Many podiatrists are searching
for answers about how to address
COVID-19 in their practices and
personal lives. APMA is here to
help by directing you to the most
authoritative and timely news and
tools. APMA has created a website,
www.apma.org/covid19, with what
we consider to be the most relevant
information for our members. The
page is updated continually with new
advice and guidance.
