ABFAS Pledges $50K for
APMA Student Recruitment

The American Board of Podiatric Medicine (ABPM) is
excited to once again support APMA's student recruitment
campaign, Step into Podiatry, with a contribution
of up to $50,000 toward this year's efforts to bring
awareness and insight into our profession with high
school students and young undergraduates.
ABPM President Lee C. Rogers, DPM, said, " Tiffany
Kildale [APMA associate director of Young Physicians
and Students] and team APMA have done outstanding
work engaging with the next generation of podiatric
medical students-their efforts at discovering who is
the ideal podiatric student, where they can be found
[online], and putting podiatry in front of them have
been astounding. The entire ABPM Board of Directors
applauds this work and is happy to support APMA in
this worthy cause. "
ABPM encourages all stakeholders-state component
societies, podiatric medical colleges, and the public
at large-to understand and support these efforts to
bring the best and brightest future colleagues into our
great profession. By engaging these students early in
their decision-making process, the Step into Podiatry
campaign will garner long-lasting effects in both matriculation
and graduation numbers with quality podiatric
medical candidates. At a minimum, joining the
mentor network and contributing financially to these
efforts will benefit us all. ABPM looks forward to another
year of successful recruiting!
The American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS)
is pleased to announce a special contribution of
$25,000 to support APMA's ongoing efforts in student
recruitment. This most recent contribution is in addition
to ABFAS' five-year commitment of a $25,000 annual
allocation that started in 2019, and doubles the
board's support for fiscal year 2021 to $50,000.
ABFAS has served as a longtime partner in APMA's
student recruitment activities. Factoring in this 2021
allocation, the ABFAS contribution toward this good
work has totaled $125,000, supporting the initial market
research development and efforts such as the Step
into Podiatry website (www.stepintopodiatry.com), as
well as advertising and paid social media.
" The effective recruitment and retention of the best
and brightest students is a top priority for our board, "
said ABFAS President William R. Adams, DPM. " Attracting
high-performing students ensures the longterm
success of the profession. "
Incoming ABFAS President Amberly C. Paradoa,
DPM, agreed, stating, " We're pleased that ABFAS is in
a position to help, and we on the board of directors
encourage the entire podiatric community to support
these important efforts. "
" ABFAS recognizes the vital necessity of providing
resources to recruit and train the next generation of
foot and ankle surgeons, " added Dr. Paradoa, " and we
hope that others will join us! "
