Fall 2022 Residency Visits-Invitation
for Comments
As part of the residency approval process, CPME
conducts on-site evaluation of new programs and
on-site re-evaluation of approved programs. Each
fall and spring, CPME meets to determine approval
decisions. At its fall meeting, the council reviews
programs visited during the previous spring's onsite
evaluation cycle, and at its spring meeting,
the council reviews programs visited during the
previous fall's on-site evaluation cycle. To review
the programs currently scheduled for on-site evaluation
during the fall of 2022, visit www.cpme.org/
onsiteschedule. The council updates the list as
evaluation dates are confirmed.
The council's residency approval process
includes consideration of third-party comments
concerning an institution's qualifications for either
provisional or continued approval. Comments
must be received 15 days prior to the program's
scheduled site visit date. All third-party comments
must be signed. Comments are forwarded to
the evaluation team, and anonymously to the

Council to Hold Fall Meeting
The council will hold its fall meeting October 21-22.
The agenda includes review of annual reports and
progress reports submitted by the colleges of podiatric
medicine and specialty boards, and consideration
of continuing approval of residency programs and
continuing education providers. Other CPME agenda
items include review of comments received from
the community of interest and possible adoption of
CPME publications 320, Standards and Requirements
for Approval of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Residencies, and 330, Procedures for Approval of
Podiatric Medicine and Surgery Residencies.
Recommendations emanating from council committees,
which will complete their deliberations at
meetings held September through October, constitute
a significant portion of the CPME agenda. The
Continuing Education Committee and Continuing
Education Ad Hoc Advisory Committee met
September 9-10 and September 17, respectively.
The Residency Review Committee met September
23-24. The council's Accreditation, Executive, and
Budget Planning Committees will meet October
18-20, just prior to the CPME meeting.
Specialty Board Recognition Committee

Review CPME 220 and 230
In March 2021, the APMA House of Delegates approved
a resolution moving the Joint Committee
on the Recognition of Specialty Boards (JCRSB)
to become a standing committee of CPME.
Subsequently, CPME adopted bylaw amendments
at its October 2021 and April 2022 meetings to
comply with the APMA action. The bylaw revisions
included identifying the JCRSB as a standing
committee of the council, and restructuring the
JCRSB representation.
To reflect that the JCRSB is now a standing committee
of the council, CPME changed the committee's
name to the Specialty Board Recognition
Committee (SBRC). Further, as part of this process,
