As you are undoubtedly aware, your APMA membership year starts
on June 1. Before you pay your dues, you are likely to pause and
consider the value you receive for belonging to APMA. What does the
organization do with your dues dollars? We're glad you asked.
Protecting Your Right to Practice
APMA is the leading advocate for podiatrists. Your organization,
through the Center for Professional Advocacy, works hand-in-hand
with your state component to ensure you can practice to the full
extent of your education and training. Most recently, the Alabama
Podiatric Medical Association (ALPMA) succeeded in its long-fought
effort to modernize the state scope of practice. In the message
announcing this hard-won victory, ALPMA's Government Affairs
Committee Chair Eric Fillinger, DPM, said, " The next time you write
your check for your APMA dues, remember it is the strength of the
association that accomplishes things like this, " Dr. Fillinger said.
Personally, I saw things behind the scenes that I was never aware our
association was capable of. Your investment in the association reaps
incredible returns. If you have colleagues [who] are not yet members
of APMA, let them know what we accomplished and encourage them

Bringing Patients to Your Office
In the past several years, APMA's public awareness initiatives have
produced billions of impressions. Our social media channels highlight
the importance of foot health, and the scope of your work as
a podiatrist, year-round. Our April Foot Health Awareness campaign
and November Diabetes Awareness campaign bring focused attention
to a specific aspect of the care you provide. Last year, our " Find
a Podiatrist " page on APMA.org had more than 200,000 visits. APMA
not only reaches potential patients, but we also reach physicians in
other specialties to let them know why they need to refer their foot

Providing Necessary
Continuing Education
You need continuing education to maintain your license and ability
to practice. In the last three years, APMA has greatly expanded our
CECH offerings and the ways in which we deliver educational content
so you can obtain your credits. For those who prefer traditional
in-person learning and knocking out a large chunk of CECH all at
once, the APMA Annual Scientific Meeting (The National) remains the
must-attend meeting for every podiatrist. This year's meeting will be
held July 13-16 in Nashville, TN, and attendees can earn up to 27.0
CECH on-site while networking with colleagues and finding tools and
solutions to improve their patient care and practice efficiency in our
expansive exhibit hall. Registrants will also have access to 6.0 CECH of
online-exclusive content after the conference. Learn more and register
