APMAPAC chair
No More Cuts!
By Randy K. Kaplan, DPM, Chair, APMAPAC
Do annual Medicare physician fee cuts affect you?
Are you and your family experiencing the impacts
of rising inflation?
How in the world can our medical practices
survive in these trying times?
At the time this column was written, CMS was
expected to cut Medicare physician reimbursements
by a little more than 2 percent. CMS was
also expected to implement changes to G2211
to increase E/M reimbursements and, unless
Congress acted to stop it at the end of 2023,
implementation was expected to be paid for by
reducing reimbursements to other codes, thus
cutting our already low fees to even less!
Are we working harder for less? You betcha!
Your wallet continues to shrink! What can you do
to fight back?
By far, the easiest thing to do is to contribute to
APMAPAC (www.apma.org/donate). Your contribution
helps us to support podiatric champions
in Congress, allowing APMA to continue to lobby
successfully on behalf of our entire profession.
As I often ask my kids, " What do you get if you
put nothing into something? " Well, you know the
answer, right? Our silence and lack of action send
the wrong message.
Please also visit APMA's eAdvocacy website
(www.apma.org/eAdvocacy) to write your
members of Congress demanding an end to this
nonsense. Your messages are critical, so let your
voice be heard! APMA's Legislative Committee has
identified multiple priority issues and drafted letters
that are available on the eAdvocacy website for
you to send to your members of Congress with a
click of your mouse. Please take a few moments to
peruse the library and send a few messages today!
Nobody else represents you on Capitol Hill-only
APMA.
Take this time to invest in yourself and the
profession. Your support makes all the difference
in our ability to influence the federal government
and help avoid further fee cuts in these inflationary
times. So please do it now by visiting www.apma.
org/donate.
2024 is a major federal election year, so make a
point this year to call your members of Congress
and ask to meet with them. Create a relationship
with these policymakers to educate them about
who we are, what we do, and the role we play in

keeping our communities on their feet. Invite your
federal policymakers to your office or hospital so
they can see for themselves how we interact with
patients and our colleagues. Use the experience
to educate your policymakers as to how these fee
cuts affect you, and more importantly, how they
impact patient care.
Our patients are at risk! Speak up! Get involved in
supporting federal election campaigns through your
APMAPAC contribution. Did you know that you can
set up monthly payments to make it even easier? A
$1,000 annual donation is only $83.33 per month!
So, what are you waiting for? Is the stability of
your profession worth $83 a month to you? If you
would like to set up monthly billing, please email
pac@apma.org, and we will assist you.
Change is hard but silence is deadly, so speak
up and stand up for your profession. Support
APMAPAC now!

PURPOSE: The American Podiatric Medical
Association Political Action Committee's purpose
is to raise and disburse funds to candidates for
federal office who support the legislative priorities
and goals of the podiatric medical profession.
IMPORTANT: You may contribute or not contribute
without concern of being favored or disadvantaged.
Occupation/Employer information is required for aggregate
annual contributions of more than $200.00
by the Federal Election Campaign Act. Federal election
law does not permit corporate contributions to
be used for donation to candidates for federal office.
Political contributions are not deductible for income
tax purposes.
