is a privilege I approach with deep responsibility.
When residents select our program, they entrust
us with their professional growth-a commitment
I honor through hands-on mentorship tailored to
their career objectives. Additionally, the program
hosts rotating externs monthly, allowing me to gain
valuable insights from their diverse experiences and
aspirations. These perspectives play a critical role in
shaping APMA's strategic vision for the future.
As a researcher, published author, lecturer, and
teacher, I stay attuned to emerging podiatric medicine
and surgery trends. My experience supports
APMA's research pillar, a recent but essential component
of its strategic plan. Research underpins advocacy,
regulation, patient safety, and outcomes-foundations
for the profession's continued evolution.
The practice landscape has transformed dramatically
since I began my career. Over the years,
I've worked within nearly every practice model.
Today, as part of the national supergroup Upperline
Health, I draw on these experiences to address
the diverse challenges podiatrists face in various
employment settings.
As president of the Foundation for Podiatric
Education, I've spent the past two years addressing
the urgent challenge of student recruitment. The
foundation board's strategic plan leverages data
analytics to guide a professional marketing campaign,
focusing on understanding and reversing
declining application numbers. Although fundraising
for this initiative has been challenging, our
board remains steadfast in its mission, as directed
by the 2022 APMA House of Delegates.
When guided by insight and experience, change
is fundamental to the future of APMA and podiatry.
Now, more than ever, it is essential for all stakeholders
to prioritize the profession above individual
organizations, with a shared focus on improving
patient outcomes and safety. By working together
toward this common goal, we can ensure a bright
future and pave the way for the residents and students
who will follow in our footsteps.

Candidate for Re-election to the Board of Trustees
During my service as an APMA
trustee, I have been grateful for
the opportunity to work with a
talented group of colleagues, your
board, and APMA staff, who have
remained steadfast in our efforts to work for you,
our members. APMA continues to advocate for
you, and as a trustee, I recognize the importance
of conducting the will of the membership while
adhering to the four pillars of our Strategic Plan
devised in 2022: Leading Advocate; Preeminent
Education; Innovative Research; and Empowered
Community. With this charge, we have created a
coalition with our allopathic colleagues in ensuring
success in our advocacy efforts. I have been
delighted to visit the colleges as an APMA liaison,
speaking with our students about our profession,
the challenges they face, and sharing expertise
and support during their educational experience.
The Research Committee, with its creative and
innovative ideas, has, in addition to providing
Level 1 research, assisted the commission from a
Budgetary Action Item 1-24 titled: Integration of
doctors of podiatric medicine and surgery into
higher academic and university health systems. In
response, I will be sharing our efforts toward this
dictate at the 2025 HOD.
I would be remiss if I did not credit all the APMA
committee members and their contributions as
we work with a unified purpose to embolden
our profession. I am grateful for their commitment.
I honor members of the Young Physician
Leadership Panel for their spirit, innovative ideas,
and energy as they contribute to our success. It
has been a humbling experience; we have much
to do with emphasis on student recruitment and
membership. Our pathway forward with our new
executive director and talented board is in good
hands. Your support and confidence in my continuation
as a resolute trustee is appreciated.

The changing health-care environment
has created many challenges
for our profession but also many
opportunities. Nationally, we are
seeing a forced consolidation of
health systems, hospitals, and providers. The goal
of this movement is to shift to more collaborative
care with a value-based payment model instead
of fee-for-service. Podiatric medicine needs to
be appreciated more for our role in public health
