Ji varo: Expressions of Cultural
Survival" (through October 3, 1985), examines the daily and ritual life of the
Jivaro people of the Andes mountains in
Peru and Equador, who have managed to
maintain their ethnic identity by remaining virtually isolated from the outside
world.Presented under the auspices of the
Organization of Aguarunas of the Alto
Mayo Region,a major organization of the
Jivaro Indians whose purpose is to aid
them in keeping their tribal lands and
ethnic identity.

British Museum, London, England: "ChineseOrnament:The Lotus and the Dragon"
(through May 5, 1985),illustrates the links
between ancient Egypt, classical Greece,
and China, embodied in the ornament of
Chinese porcelain. Objects ranging from
lotus cups of the New Kingdom period in
Egypt to woodenarchitectural fragments
unearthed from desert cities in Chinese
Central Asia illuminate the varied and unbroken history of these age-old designs.
