- The Authors - Chroniclers of the Encounter F. Keegan ("Beachhead in the Bahamas " page William 44) is assistant curator of anthropology at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville. He received his Ph.D. in 1985 from the University of California at Los Angeles; his area of specialization is Caribbean archaeology. He has directed archaeological investigations throughout the Bahamian archipelago and on Grenada. His numerous scientific articles and reports have appeared in journals such as American Antiquity, American , and Antiquity. Anthropologist Dave D. Davis ("Rumor of Cannibals," page 49) received his Ph.D. in anthropology from Yale University. His particular focus is Precolumbian colonization, and the relationships between material culture and cultural identity. He is currently professor of anthropology and dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern Maine. Herman J. Viola ("The Great Exchange," page 57) is director of Quincentenary Programs at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History and director of the Seedsof Changeexhibition. Jamaica Specialist Smith ("Jamaica's Enduring KC Heritage," page 73) is program supervisor at San Luis Archaeological and Historic Site in Tallahassee, Florida. She worked at St. Ann's Bay from 1982 to 1984 as part of the Columbus Caravels Project sponsored by the Institute of Nautical Archaeology, Texas A&M University. 1992 87 January/February
