of outcomes developed for school‑
based audiologists by the Educational
Audiology Association Outcomes
Working Group. We will discuss the
purposes of an outcomes model, the
Tier 1 and 2 outcomes, indicators,
and measurement tools. Tier 1 pilot
data collection will be presented.
Finally, opportunities and strategies for
applying this tool in school districts and
with evaluations of state performance
requirements will be discussed.

Decades of research have demonstrated
the power of analyzing a sample of
children's naturalistic discourse. This
introductory‑level presentation will
provide an overview of current best
practices in language sample analysis.
Major topics will include selecting the
type of samples to collect (narrative,
conversation, etc.), using discourse
analysis in the clinical process
(diagnostics & progress monitoring),
transcription options, and comparing
client samples to normative data. The
presentation will end with a series of
case studies.

We've all been told, and we all know
standardized assessments don't
represent all learners in our schools.
Employing dynamic assessment (test ‑
teach ‑ test) has widely been touted as
the most authentic measure to determine
presence of a language disorder. How
do we make sure SLPs in the same school
district conduct dynamic assessments
similarly? SLPs in Chapel Hill-Carrboro
City Schools in North Carolina have
developed common language samples
for elementary and secondary students.

Highly trained paraprofessionals are
critical members of the intervention
team. Attendees will learn valuable
strategies to teach paraprofessionals that
will result in immediate gains in student
communicative competence. Specific
strategies, training methodologies and
tools for supervision and training will
be presented.

Relations Between ASHA and the Society
for Clinical Neuropsychology of the
American Psychological Association,
outlines a dynamic, collaborative,
process‑oriented approach to assessing
cognitive symptoms that persist after mild
traumatic brain injury. Active participation
of the patient is emphasized to guide
clinical decision‑making.
