Associates and International Affiliates

ASHA welcomes Associates and International Affiliates! International Affiliates are
communication sciences and disorders (CSD) professionals residing outside of the
United States. Associates are audiology assistants and speech‑language pathology
assistants. Both are invited to join ASHA in their relevant affiliation categories to take
full advantage of the benefits and opportunities available through the association.

Be part of the world's largest organization of audiologists and speech‑language
pathologists by joining ASHA as an International Affiliate! Reach out to fellow
international colleagues to share ideas, learn from their experiences, and expand the
diversity and cultural competence of the professions. ASHA believes that increased
collaboration with colleagues from outside the United States will help everyone
develop new insights into the varied and unique challenges faced by professionals in
speech, language, and hearing around the world.
As an International Affiliate, you will have access to the world's
largest collection of up‑to‑date information for audiologists
and speech‑language pathologists and be able to connect
with professional colleagues via ASHA's 19 Special Interest
Groups (SIGs). Global Issues in Communications Sciences and
Related Disorders (SIG 17), Language Learning and Education
(SIG 1), and Audiology and Public Health (SIG 8) are especially
popular with International Affiliates.

Bilingual Service Providers
Bilingual Service Providers (BSPs) like you are increasingly
in demand. Take a moment to self‑identify and broaden
your professional reach-making a lasting difference in the
lives of your clients and your community.

Self‑identifying as a BSP offers you increased marketability
with a distinct competitive advantage, access to a broader
set of clients/patients, and potential for increased earning.
BSP self-identification demonstrates to the public that you
are uniquely qualified to help underserved communities.
BSPs are in a strong position to serve as a community
resource, increase the likelihood that clients will receive
services they might not otherwise access, and provide
a meaningful extra layer of care by communicating in
clients' native languages.

Associates

For over 6 years, the ASHA Associates program has provided a
way for audiology assistants and speech‑language pathology
assistants like you to join ASHA! When you join, you'll be able
to take advantage of the same benefits that all ASHA members
and affiliates enjoy.
The program is designed to foster a healthy and productive
relationship between ASHA-certified supervisors and
audiology assistants or speech‑language pathology assistants.
Together, your work goes a long way toward accomplishing
ASHA's mission-making effective communication a human
right, accessible and achievable to all.
