What do you love most about being an SLP?
The amazing relationships that I have developed over the years. These include
the professional relationships that I have developed with colleagues and the
relationships that I have forged with children and their families.

How do ASHA Professional Development (APD)
courses help you become a better clinician?
The diverse offerings allow me to learn about a variety of important issues
without having to travel. This flexibility makes it easy to fit into my schedule and
the costs are highly reasonable.
The courses are a great reminder of the importance of continued learning in our
field. As advancements in research and novel clinical approaches are introduced,
it is imperative that SLPs are committed to expanding their knowledge base in an
effort to enhance their clinical skills and better serve their patients.

What would you say about your experience of taking
APD courses?
I have had nothing but positive experiences with ASHA's online course offerings.
The speakers have been tremendous and include a host of skilled clinicians who
are engaged, experienced, and highly motivated to share what they know.

How do you maintain work-life balance?
Even though I enjoy my work and feel challenged daily, I work hard to maintain
balance between my professional life and my family life. It typically comes
down to prioritizing what matters the most at any specific time. This often
means removing things from my plate before agreeing to take on additional
responsibilities or not allowing myself to schedule work-related activities outside
of the work week....too often!

What do you enjoy doing when not at work?
When I am not working, I am either at the beach with my family, playing my
ukulele, or at a sporting event watching my kids play.
