readings to come up with a fi nal annual average
power demand and EUI baseline for this building
as shown in Table 4.
From the above, it can be seen that the short- and
long-term data analysis revealed EUI values of
2,052 and 1,877, respectively. As per ASHRAE guidelines
, the latter EUI value will be more representative
for this building. This information will be used
along with the information gathered from all the
remaining 92 buildings to come up with an average
EUI baseline for all communications buildings as
can be shown in the following section.
EUI Analysis for All Communication Buildings
To refi ne the above EUI baseline analysis even
further so it will be applicable to all 93 AITD buildings,
the energy consumptions from the MTS for
different buildings were obtained and summarized.
However, only two additional buildings had MTS
reading available. The readings for these two additional
buildings are summarized in Table 5.
The average baseline EUI for all communications
buildings was calculated by taking the simple average
for all EUI measured (2,052 + 1,877 + 2,092 + 1,650).
(Short-term reading and long-term MTS reading for
one building and MTS long-term readings for two
other buildings.) Now, EUI can be deduced for communications
buildings with a confi dence level of ±10%:
EUI (baseline) = 1,900 kWh/m2·yr
Knowing that the total area of all 93 AITD buildings is
20,507 m2 (220 736 ft2), the total energy expenditures
and cost key performance indicator (KPI) can be established
(based on $0.08/kWh) as shown in Table 6.
EUI Benchmarking
There is no international
standard
available for communications
building
energy performance
benchmarking.
This issue stems
from the fact that
communications
