BPO evaluations are customized to your needs. CleaverBrooks offers three levels of service so that you can
select the option that is right for your boiler plant.
Level 1 - BPO Self-Review Scorecard
Your facility's own staff will self-administer this brief
review. The scorecard is used to assess the boiler plant
to determine if industry standards are being implemented
based on the following best practices: documenting the
current state, developing standard operating procedures,
preparing for operational recovery, roadmapping for
improvement, promoting continuous education, and
maintaining and reviewing operational records.
Level 2 - BPO Overview
This two- to three-hour, complimentary site visit consists
of a thorough evaluation by a Cleaver-Brooks FactoryCertiﬁed Boiler Plant Optimization Specialist. Also
included is a record of pertinent information about the
major operational pieces of your boiler room equipment
such as boilers, burners, integrated controls, heat
recovery and water systems. After the evaluation,
you will receive a report containing an appendix of
the approximately 250 points reviewed in the boiler
plant, tabular summary of identiﬁed deﬁciencies and
opportunities discovered, and identiﬁcation of items that
can be prioritized to further optimize your boiler plant
operations.
Level 3 - BPO Assessment
This fee-based, two- to three-day study is conducted
by two Boiler Plant Optimization Engineers. They will
thoroughly examine the boiler plant and areas of the

steam system to gain a full understanding of the entire
process. The comprehensive assessment includes
a detailed report outlining the current state of the
boiler plant operations for areas related to efﬁciency,
sustainability, reliability and safety. The boiler plant
equipment review comes complete with operating chart
data, boiler room snapshot data, steam and energy load
proﬁling, calculated cost of steam, condensate return
percentage, and makeup water usage. Thermal imagery
and an energy metering package are optional. These
data points will help develop a roadmap for improving
the current state of the boiler plant operation. Each
recommendation is prioritized by its expected impact on
operation, assisting the boiler plant team in identifying
ways to achieve higher efﬁciency and sustainability goals.
