and operation of high-performance buildings. The new
Standard 209 addresses most of the important processes
by which energy modeling can achieve this objective in
a reliable and consistent approach. Although applicable
to any design process, the standard is best used when it
is included as part of an integrative design process. It is
expected that this new standard will be adopted by organizations that certify high-performance buildings, utilities, and
agencies that provide incentives for low-energy buildings,
and building owners and architects seeking a uniform way
to specify a scope of work for building energy modeling.
