he VRP®
line of packaged heat
pumps expands with Friedrich's
introduction of the VRP studio,
a space-saving 7,000 Btu version of the
award-winning VRP®
(Variable Refrigerant
Packaged) Heat Pump system to
address the needs of the lodging industry
for a high-effi ciency, cost-eff ective and
compact in-closet cooling and heating
solution that delivers outstanding indoor
air quality for smaller spaces.
Designed to accommodate the latest
trends in the lodging industry where
smaller, better insulated rooms are
increasingly common, the VRP®
studio,
takes up less space (23 x 23 inch footprint),
provides eff ective cooling, heating
and dehumidifi cation, and yet still allows
customized comfort and sophisticated
indoor air quality capabilities in compliance
with ASHRAE 62 requirements for
MUA (make-up air).
The VRP line includes one-, two- and
three-ton in-closet, single package units
suitable for larger hotel rooms and suites,
multifamily and other applications.
VRP studio is based on the company's
innovative technology that features
variable refrigerant fl ow and a Precision
Inverter®
compressor that delivers powerful
cooling and heating performance,
increased effi ciencies, and reduced
sound-all without the cost or complexity
of a large central air system. With
VRP units installed in hotel guestrooms,
elaborate and expensive rooftop central
systems can be considerably downsized
to service only the common areas of the
property.
Maintenance is simplifi ed - VRP units
are easy to diagnose, repair and replace.
Entire VRP units can be changed out in
less time than it takes to troubleshoot
most central systems. Spare units can be
stored on site. Typical troubleshooting
and operational support can be accomplished
without specialized training
or certifi cations. Fast unit change-out
keeps tenants and guests happy and allows
the unit to be removed and repaired
outside the guest room if needed.

VRP
VRP eliminates safety issues associated
with potential refrigerant spills in guest
rooms. There are no cooling towers to
maintain and keep safe. The development
of Legionella in a dirty cooling tower is
a serious concern with the potential for
severe illness and fi nancial liability.
Central system failures and the need
for temporary cooling to be brought
on site can be confi ned to common
areas, greatly reducing costs.
