In the year since AMCA inmotion was last published, so many
significant developments have occurred in our industry. Here’s
a quick recap:

With AMCA partnership, ASHRAE adopted a fan efficiency
provision for Standard 90.1-2013 based on the AMCA standards for rating fan efficiency.

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) published the first
milestone in what will be the nation’s first federal fan efficiency
requirement. AMCA participated in the first public hearing at
DOE headquarters in Washington D.C. AMCA acquitted itself
as a collaborative industry association with members and staff demonstrating integrity and
expertise.

■ California Title 24, the state’s energy code for commercial buildings, now requires returnair and economizer dampers to be third-party certified for leakage based on AMCA

AMCA established its European AMCA division in Brussels, Belgium. This complements
Asia AMCA, based in Singapore, which was established in 2011. Look for our first regional
updates for Asia and Europe in this issue of AMCA inmotion.

AMCA launched a communications initiative, High Performance Air Systems. This will
increase awareness of the tremendous gains air systems have made in terms of energy
efficiency, indoor air quality, and low cost of ownership.

AMCA’s Certified Ratings Program increased to 3,123 products and 215 companies.
