We worked with our partners to ensure the building
is carbon neutral and provides the organization, its
employees and all visitors with the beneﬁts the
latest in intelligent workspaces can deliver.

In taking this approach, ASHRAE is putting itself
at the forefront of the movement to create a
workplace that delivers for its people. In our
engagement with clients we've seen that when
teams were given more freedom on when and
where to work they reported a greater sense of
wellbeing.

The workplace is forever evolving and modernizing
through new technologies, and as these new
technologies emerge, they're empowering people
to ﬁnd new ways to collaborate. ASHRAE understands it's not just about having a building that
meets the physical needs of employees, but having
one that allows them to work seamlessly with both
oﬃce-based and remote workers and partners who
may be located anywhere around the country, or
even the world. The new building had to allow
people to meet when they need to, from where they
want to, so they could get their best work done.

This was as a result of fewer interruptions and
more eﬀective communication, as well as a reduction in unnecessary meetings. Organizations
should support the diﬀerent kinds of work people
need to do each day and enable their growing
desire to connect in meaningful ways, create and
participate in a community and have a sense of
purpose. Creating a workplace that enables this
needs to start with an understanding of how people
work, and then designing an environment that is
accommodating and inclusive, bringing people and
ideas together.
