* Based on energy models, the building will operate
at net-zero energy when it is fully staﬀed, following
the installation of the rooftop and ground-mounted
photovoltaic solar energy system in March 2021.

example of how we are helping to pioneer a
movement that many expect will ultimately make
net-zero energy the 'new norm' in sustainable
design and construction. Although new construction
of net-zero energy buildings make a lot of headlines, reuse of existing structures is a basic tenet of
sustainability - the energy performance of existing
buildings must be addressed to substantially impact
the 40% of primary energy consumed by buildings, "
said Ginger Scoggins, P.E., ASHRAE Building
Ad-Hoc Committee Chair.

Industry Partners and Members Invest in
ASHRAE's New Headquarters
Just as vital in seeing this renovation project to
completion was the support of corporate and
individual donors. ASHRAE's new headquarters'
renovation project was funded in part by companies
that are invested in the future of the Society and the
HVAC&R industry. The ASHRAE Development
Committee led a highly successful building campaign that garnered 31 corporate donors who
committed more than $9.7 million in monetary
support and gifts of equipment and services. To
acknowledge and express appreciation to our
generous donors, ASHRAE's new global headquarters was designed to include prominent building
displays, donor wall recognition and naming rights.
ASHRAE thanks the following industry partners for
their high-level support of the new global headquarters renovation project: NIBE, ClimateMaster,
ClimaCool, Cisco, Arkema, Daikin, Price Industries,
Belimo, Bell & Gossett, Big Ass Fans, Victaulic,
Uponor, Mitsubishi Electric Trane, NTT and
PlaceOS.
The ASHRAE Foundation made a gift of $300,000
to support the renovation. In addition, ASHRAE
raised more than $500,000 from within the organization, including signiﬁcant gifts from the ASHRAE
Life Members Club and the ASHRAE College of
Fellows, illustrating the commitment that our
members have to the future of our industry and

the innovations that are at the heart of ASHRAE's
mission. The ﬁnancial support and encouragement
from the ASHRAE family and community inspired
leadership and volunteers as they moved forward
to meet the goals of this state-of-the-art facility. We
thank our generous and dedicated members for
their support of this important project.

A Showcase Destination
Member volunteers, donors and industry partners
came together to make the vision for ASHRAE's
new global headquarters a reality. The doors of
the new global headquarters opened in October
2020 and the Society is looking forward to a long,
productive tenure in its innovative new home.
ASHRAE is grateful and proud that this newly
renovated building will be a showcase, providing a
destination venue for industry visitors and members
to experience.
" ASHRAE's ﬁrst-of-its-kind headquarters building
was designed as a living showcase of what's
possible through technology integration to increase
eﬃciency, protect people and property, and enhance
the occupant experience, " said 2020-21 ASHRAE
President Charles E. Gulledge III, P.E. " In addition
to supporting ASHRAE's technical standards,
innovative product integrations from our generous
donors also provide a scalable and repeatable
model for a net-zero energy building design. " We

to say hello, please take time to walk through and
see more than just a beautiful new space. We hope
