The Benedictine Sisters at Holy Wisdom Monastery never set out to prove that green buildings can be constructed at the same cost of a conventional building. Their mission of prayer, hospitality, justice and care for the earth guided the design of energy-efficient systems and selection of sustainable materials for their new monastery near Madison, Wis.
