" The most unique
WALNUT
element was the sculpture
wall, which challenged us
in all departments, from
estimating, to engineering,
to production, and finally
installation, " explains
DesMarais. " Nearly a year
of planning went into the
execution of this unique
item, and the end product
is an absolute marvel of
design and engineering and
exquisite carpentry! "
The sculptural wall
consisted of individual
undulating horizontal slats
made of ¾ fire rated MDF.
Each part was individually
drawn, manufactured, and
installed to create the final
organic shape. Each piece of
the wall is individual without
any duplicated shapes (2,109
unique parts) making this whole
structure truly one-of-a-kind.
" Several programs were
used to model and ensure
design-intent, engineer, and
release to fabrication, " adds
DesMarais. " When the project
was complete, a total of 11
miles of veneer edge banding
(applied by hand) and 700+
sheets of material were used. "
