Wood Features
According to Lokesh
Nair of CN Architectural
Millwork and Construction,
Inc., the major architectural
woodwork items fabricated
for the project included wood
veneer doors, casework,
laminate countertops, stone
countertops, and solid wood
countertops and tables. The
major architectural woodwork
item produced for this project
was, the floating leaf skeleton
for the ceiling. CN's team
successfully carried out an
intricate, and highly creative
scope to accommodate the
designer's vision. Fir veneer
and solid Cedar were used in
the project.

Bringing
the forest
inside the
building inspired
the design of a forest
canopy blanketing the main
path, comprised of individual
leaves, " depicting the strength
of nature and education, "
notes Remkor. " Bird " lights
swoop playfully in-and-out of
the canopy, bringing it to life.
The back-country hut offers
shelter and was inspired by
a longhouse with the four
First-Nation band emblems
which this land is situated on
is carved into the doors by
a local artist. The Waterfall
Bar, clad in local stone and
textured glass, reflects falling
water and has collaboration
and study tables stained to
emulate moss settling after a
west coast winter. A camping
red color is integrated into the
woodwork which includes a
bar setup to support functions
outside of student support.
