brand new year awaits us,
which can be exhilarating
or daunting-or both. It's
often hard for us and the agents we
work with to turn the corner from
the year-end push and the relaxation of the holidays and to begin
again. Life Happens has a host of
new resources-and an early marketing campaign-that can help you
jumpstart 2016.

Use the "Insure Your
Love" campaign to get
things off to a quick start.
Life Happens created the Insure
Your Love campaign
around the February timeframe
expressly to help the industry get
off to a strong beginning. It allows
all of us to move into the new year
with a great and inspirational theme
to use with consumers: "Protect the
Ones You Love With Life Insurance."
This year the campaign resources,
which are free for NAILBA members,
are designed and categorized around
specific life stages. People often
buy life insurance when a life event
brings the need front and center-or
agents bring the need to their attention! New parents, growing families,
couples ready to retire ... there are
specific resources-from flyers and
videos, to social media graphics-
that agents can use to reach out in
a low-key way. Plus, all the materials are neutral, third party, with no
sales language, making them a great
way for agents to start a life insurance conversation.
While the campaign "launches" in February, and Valentine's

Day is a great opportunity, agents
can use these resources any time
of the year. Several of the large
insurance companies have also
used the love theme as their outreach during Life Insurance Awareness Month. People buy life insurance because they love someone
and want to make sure they are
protected financially if something
were to happen. When is that sentiment out of season?

Leverage the power
of storytelling with the
brand new "In Their
Own Words."
I've heard a lot of buzz about storytelling lately at various indus-
try meetings. At one meeting, they
devoted a whole session to how
to best to use stories in our outreach with consumers. The speaker
said that a good story gives "a new
understanding of a problem, person,
or situation." We in the industry are
lucky to have access to these kinds
of authentic stories through the
Real Life Stories that Life Happens
creates-showing how life insurance works for families in their time
of greatest need.
On the other side of the coin
are the stories of how families suffer, often for years, because there
was no life insurance planning in
place. NAILBA and the NAILBA
Charitable Foundation have been
