with a urinary-tract abnormality,
known as vesicoureteral reflux

when treated with long-term,
low-dose antibiotics. About onethird of children diagnosed with
UTIs also have VUR.

the country on ways to maximize
efficacy of the therapy while

first pediatric rehabilitation
facility to use a telepresence
robot that allows physicians to
interact with patients without
being at the hospital. The
device, which is controlled by
the user's iPad or computer,
has a camera, microphones
and video display and allows
physicians to conduct rounds
at any time to ensure the
continuity of care for children
with medical complexity.
loma linda university
children's hospital in Loma
Linda, Calif., opened a 84-bed
neuro-neonatal intensive care
unit to help the development
of newborns' brains during
hospitalization and to optimize
the baby's quality of life. About
100 to 200 babies a year will be
monitored in the unit.
randall children's hospital at
legacy emanuel in Portland,
Ore., was named a beneficiary
of the Pablove Foundation's
Shutterbugs photography
program. The hospital received
$12,595 for training and tools
to replicate and implement
the program, which teaches
30 children and teens living
with cancer to express their
creativity through photography.
