The differences between
present-day Vietnamese
spoken in Vietnam and the
South Vietnamese spoken
by diaspora communities
are mainly centered
around the use of SinoVietnamese
vocabulary, the
transliteration of names
from foreign languages,
and grammatical phrase
structures. These differences
are illustrated in Table 1.
From Table 1, we can see
that present-day Vietnamese
is less similar to Chinese
in terms of vocabulary,
the way foreign countries
and places are named, and
grammatical structures, while
