Your handling system works best if it is kept simple, rather than made complicated.
Heard this before? It's referred to as the KISS principle-
keep it simple and straightforward!
As my dog approached my left side (and as I moved toward the
plane of #12), I began to bring up my outside (right) arm, simultaneously cuing my dog to go to the backside of the jump with
my inside (left) arm and motion and to wrap the wing of the jump
once on the backside with my shoulder presentation and outside
(right) arm. This is shown by the green handler in Figure 11.

Taking the dog the long way around the panel at #12
caused handlers to have to push the dogs right to
line them up with the double. As handlers then fell
behind their dogs, several problems resulted.

As my dog was committing to the #12 jump, rather than wait for
him, I began to show motion toward the #14 tire, making sure to
keep my right side cues as obvious as possible: looking back at
my dog over my right shoulder and, keeping my right arm extended back (blue handler in Figure 11). Because I continued moving
down the line, I was able to cue extension for the #13 double.
As my dog landed the double, I was able to pull away laterally
from the #14 tire, rotating toward my dog as I did so, to pull my
dog with me as he took the tire. See the red handler in Figure 11.
As my dog took off for the tire, I continued pulling away laterally,
looking back over my right shoulder, with my right arm extended,
but also with my outside (left) arm up, as though I had a cookie
in it, luring the dog in to my side (turquoise handler in Figure 11).
As I got my dog's attention and continued moving past the plane
of jump #15, I stepped into my dog for a rear cross on the flat
between the tire and the jump, completing a turn to the right for
my dog (orange handler in Figure 11).
Once on my left, it was fairly straightforward to cue my dog to
take the #16 long jump using my inside (left) arm, my verbal
Jump cue, and a lateral step away with my outside (right) leg. In
this fashion, the dog knew to take the jump and turn to the right.
The ending line, with the seesaw and the two jumps, dog on left
the whole time, was fast and fun!

Of course, the real challenge on this course was being able to
employ the simple strategies again and again-simple is not always easy, after all! Set each of these smaller sequences up and
try them out for yourself. Although some training may be required
(jump training, contact training, weave pole training), the handling should feel comfortable and natural for you and your dog,
even if this handling may look a little different than that of other
teams. As long as you are logical in your approach to how you
mix your ingredients, and as long as you don't overcomplicate
things, you and your dog will remain effective communicators.
Remember; keep your handling as simple and straightforward as
possible. Focus on your understanding and execution of the core
principles of the ingredients of any cue combination, and not on their
various names around the world, and you'll be able to use those
familiar ingredients in any way you choose-successfully! D
