after week) that won't be addressed specifically in class,
or if they just want to solidify
their performance skills and

We do more sequences (skills
and drills) than courses.
Each week there are generally two stations set up that
focus on several skills at
once. Each station covers
half the field (50' x 100').
Jumpers-style challenges that
focus on handling and timing might comprise one station, while the other station
might emphasize the contact
obstacles and proofing

exercises. We always spend
part of every class on course
analysis: what cross to use
and why, how and why to use
a specific handling option,
and how to train a skill that
you don't currently own so
it becomes an option for you
on future courses.
Dog Details
Where do class dogs
"hang out" during class?
Do you have a policy?

Most dogs are on a downstay or sit-stay when they are
not the working dog in class.
I would like to say that is my
policy, but I'm afraid about
a third of my student base
would have to leave if I decided to enforce it. Crates are
on all the fields for those that
want to leave their dog in a
crate. Dogs cannot be left to
just wander around.

Do you allow reactive dogs
at your facility? If so, are
they integrated into regular
classes or do you have a
special class?

It depends on the dog and
handler so evaluations are
done on an individual basis.
If you call and say your dog
is straight-up dog aggressive,
you will not be allowed to
participate, and I will give
you the name of a behaviorist who can help you. However, some dogs might have
space issues or be reactive
to other dogs. If the owner
of that dog is vigilant about
keeping their dog protected
from those situations, they
are generally never an
issue and are welcome
at this facility.
