Training e false turn uses the natural response of the dog; therefore, no training is necessary. For dogs that don't willingly turn or come close to the handler, the handler can occasionally reward the dog for coming to her on the initial part of the false turn. Common Errors * It is important to keep moving throughout the false turn. By standing still, the handler does not provide the dog with information about the intended line on landing. See Figure 5 (https://youtu.be/s8UmaBSWYKE). In addition, the handler can easily fall behind. Compare the photos in Figure 5 to Figure 6 (https://youtu.be/Z8EpB8J0F7g) where the handler keeps moving. * It is important to rotate the entire body, both upper and lower. By only changing the arm and partially rotating the upper body, the dog does not get enough turning information to change his line. See Figure 7 (https://youtu.be/Y0r330XS4Z4). * It is also important to cue the dog at least one stride prior to takeo . If you are late, the dog will not be able to adjust the takeo point and will not land on the correct line. See Figure 8 (https://youtu.be/Ofcn-nIjCQc). 5 6 36 Clean Run | February 16
