This time you might like to practice going into the 270, jumps #8 and #9, with a rear cross. Finish up with the dog on your left for #9 and #10. Figure 8: Lead out between #2 and #3. Practice turning the dog both ways on #4. First try front crossing on the takeoff side of #4, turning the dog to the right. Next try wrapping the dog to the left followed by a front cross. Here is another chance to practice going into the 270 with a rear cross if you like. Do you notice if your rear cross skills are equal when turning in either directions? Doing a rear cross into a 270 or having lateral distance on the weave poles are all necessary skills to have! Figure 9: Lead out to the takeoff side of #2. Do a front cross, turning the dog to the left on #2, and then front cross again. The dog is on your left for #3 through #5. At #5 turn the dog to the right and do a front cross. Send the dog to the weave poles and do a front cross on the takeoff side of #7. Finish up with the dog on your left. Figure 10: Begin with a lead-out pivot on the takeoff side of #4. Stay on the takeoff side of #4 and front cross again. Send the dog to the weave poles. Do a front cross on the takeoff side of #6. Handle #6 to #8 on your right. Wrap the dog to the left on #8, support the takeoff side of #9, and finish up on #10. Hint: To tighten the wrap on #8, try stepping or “tucking behind the bar” as your dog is wrapping the jump. It will help your dog to understand the direction of the next jump. D
