Wrap the dog to the left at #7 and follow with a front cross. Finish up #8 and #9 with the dog on your left. Another way to handle the sequence from the tunnel would be for you to get into serpentine position at #6 and finish #7, #8, and #9 with the dog on your left. There is no time to waste; it is important to get in position to cue the takeoff side of #4. The dog is on your right for #5 and #6. Send the dog to #7. Do a front cross on the takeoff side of #8, and threadle to #9. Finish with the dog on your left. Figure 9: If we were at a trial and saw this pattern, I would start with a lead-out pivot near #3. But because we are skill building try starting halfway between #1 and #2 and threadle to #3. Do a rear cross at #3 and pick up the dog on your right out of the tunnel. Do a rear cross on #6 and a front cross on the takeoff side of #9. Finish #10 and #11 with the dog on your right.

With the dog on your left support the takeoff side of #8. If you are having trouble getting the dog to the back side of #8, make sure that you are setting the line correctly. So often I see handlers step with a foot rotated toward the landing side of the jump, sometimes even stepping in front of the jump, then throwing their hip out to where they intend the dog to go. What happens? The dog comes in, cuts in front of the handler, and takes the jump in the wrong direction. Think of a forward send to the back side of the jump and support that line with every part of your body until the dog commits. Finish with the dog on your left. D
