Adding a Jump Wing Once the dog understands the flatwork, you can add a jump wing for the dog to turn around. At this stage you can use anything you have access to for the dog to go around such as: a cone, trash can, tree, post, etc. But it should be something the dog cannot easily knock over. Begin with a lead-out and release your dog as you are facing him. Move backward and use the hand closest to the wing to draw him toward you. As he commits to coming to the close side of the jump, turn his head away from you with your hand and wrist. He should be taking the wing from the side closest to you toward the side that's further away. Reward him along his line at the completion by tossing his reward.
