Apollo perspectives Filmmaker David Sington By George Leopold NEW YORK — David Sington was in Manhattan recently to begin work on a documentary about the obscure financial instruments known as derivatives, which were at the heart of the financial meltdown that has shaken the global economy to its core. The Cambridge-educated London native and former BBC reporter acknowledges that his acclaimed 2007documentary “In the Shadow of the Moon,” which won the World Cinema Audience Award at the 23 EE Times | Apollo | July 20, 2009 2007 Sundance Film Festival, has opened up a world of opportunities. Still, he admits he’d relish a break from the grueling schedule of interviews, fundraising, editing, distribution and competition at festivals like Sundance. Between the Apollo documentary and his latest project, Sington made a sixpart series called “Moon Machines” that depicts “the trials and tribulations of the engineers who designed the computers, rockets, suits and spaceships that sent Sington has followed up his 2007 documentary with a series on Apollo’s engineers
