On each floor opposite the elevator bank, black-andwhite photos overlayed with color (far right, top) are used as a wayfinding scheme. Further aiding in wayfinding, room numbers and other bold graphic elements are painted on the floors in the emergency and trauma areas (right and opposite). The terracotta frit on exterior glazing provides privacy for patient rooms (bottom). Nurses' stations (far right, middle) have visual access to multiple patient rooms. Key Design Highlights The new PAC advanced care pavilion's exterior-featuring extensive glazing as well as gray and slate-colored masonry-establishes a modern presence for the center. Offering both a literal and figurative departure from the existing center's structures, a new corridor with a hospitalitydriven design connects areas within an existing building to the new PAC facility. Reception and waiting areas incorporate cloud-like Arktura ceilings, terrazzo floors, groupings of leatherette lounge chairs, as well as an open and winding staircase. Wayfinding schemes on patient floors include black-and-white photography mounted near elevator banks and graphic elements painted on floors. Patient rooms have floor-toceiling windows with daylight filtered through fritted glass. contract
