Scandinavian Spaces offers a digital tour of its winning studentdesigned ICFF 2020 booth, created through a competition with
the Texas State University Interior Design program.

The booth's four colorblocked spaces indicate
different intended uses,
from meeting and working
to relaxing. On the virtual
tour, viewers can explore
new furniture concepts
for collaborative meetings,
individual workstations,
and acoustical wall
treatments.

With the cancellation of major architectural
and design trade shows-including the International
Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), which was
scheduled to take place May 17-20-due to COVID-19,
Scandinavian Spaces along with hundreds of other
exhibitors were unable to share its ICFF booth designs
with the public. This year's Scandinavian Spaces booth,
in particular, had a special story behind its formation,
as it was designed in collaboration with Texas State
University students. Rather than never letting the booth
design see the light of day, the company launched a
virtual showroom tour to bring the design community
and like-minded creatives together digitally.
Together with Texas State University,
Scandinavian Spaces organized a competition for the
university's interior design program. The competition
encouraged students to develop a concept and design

a booth that represented the brand and its core
values of color, life, and design. Beginning in October
2019, the competition ran for several weeks. During
that time, students met at Scandinavian Spaces'
flagship showroom in Austin, Texas, to learn about
the progressive product line. Throughout the
competition, students had the opportunity to meet
with Scandinavian Spaces team members to discuss
ideas and receive feedback on their design concepts.
The winning team was selected by a panel of
educators, alumni in the interior design community,
and representatives from Scandinavian Spaces.
The award-winning booth, designed by Erin
Elorreaga and Shelbie Metzler, was inspired by the
Swedish concept of lagom, meaning just the right amount.
Created in collaboration with Scandinavian Spaces,
the display highlights new concepts from partner

brands Blå Station, Nordgröna, and Materia, including
furniture for collaborative meetings, individual
workstations, and acoustical wall treatments.
The booth consists of four color-blocked
spaces-June Day Yellow, Forever Lilac, Foxy Red,
and Smokey Azure Blue-each designed for a different
intent. The yellow zone is a vibrant space to energize
positive collaboration and teamwork; the lilac area
features soft hues to encourage informal conversations
and quiet contemplation; the red zone is a warm
and welcoming area filled with soft seating options
for hospitality and public projects; and the blue area
is a calm and informal work zone that can easily
be reconfigured for large or small groups. Viewers
can now immerse themselves in the Scandinavian
way of life by exploring the booth, featuring places
where people can meet, work, and relax via
