Terry D'Arcy had just been laid off as an ironworker in 1979 when
a family friend hired him to sell cars. His career path brought
him back to the auto industry in the mid-1980s. In 1991, D'Arcy
partnered in an Oldsmobile store, becoming full owner in 1993. He
also was chairman of the Chicago Automobile Trade Association
in 2005 and 2006. Under D'Arcy's leadership, the CATA began
a $1.5 million partnership with the ASE Education Foundation
to provide auto tech training in Chicagoland technical schools.
Besides supporting many local charities, D'Arcy's dealership has
helped more than 1,000 children visit the Brookfield Zoo over the
past decade.

David G. Daunhauer

Like many children of dealers, George Doetsch started his auto
career washing cars and working as a lot attendant at his
father's store. Today he works with his father and son at their
two dealerships in suburban Washington. Doetsch and his father
were named 2013 Philanthropists of the Year by the Community
Foundation of Howard County, in recognition of a lifetime of
giving. Doetsch says his charitable-giving program has reinvested
more than $1 million annually in local organizations. Doetsch
also received the 2012 Howard County Good Scout Award in
recognition for his work with the local Boy Scouts council.

Early in his life, David Daunhauer had no intention of joining the
dealership founded by his grandfather. But after a career as a
landscape architect and also studying theology as a possible
vocation, he joined his father and brothers at the family business
in 1995. Daunhauer has been chairman and vice chairman of
the Kentucky Automobile Dealers Association and received the
Silver Beaver award for his volunteer work as a leader and council
commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America Lincoln Heritage
Council, where he remains on the executive board.

Jacqueline De Luz

The Ernst family will mark 60 years in the dealership industry in
2020. Ten years ago, third-generation dealer John Ernst joined his
father and uncle in the business, which now operates two stores in
Columbus. Since 2017, Ernst has been chairman of the Nebraska
New Car & Truck Dealers Association. He also is a board member
for several local organizations. An adoptive father, Ernst led the
board of Adoption Links Worldwide for nine years-an experience
close to his heart. In 2016, Ernst instituted a charity program
to support organizations in his hometown and has an ongoing
partnership with the Columbus Community Hospital Foundation.

Jacqueline De Luz's Hawaiian ancestry dates back to the mid1800s, and her father opened his first used-car dealership in
Hilo 60 years ago. De Luz worked in the family business in high
school and college and joined full time in human resources and
risk management in 1990. De Luz also is an active member and
former director of the Hawaii Automobile Dealers Association.
Her passion is mentoring young adults, especially young women.
De Luz has been a mentor for junior high and high school students
through local chapters of Junior Achievement and the Society for
Human Resource Management.

William Farrell says that when he sold his first car at age 17, he
knew he wanted to spend his career in a dealership. Today, the
business he owns with his father, Bruce, encompasses 12 Virginia
locations and more than 600 employees. Farrell is a past chairman
of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and a member of
the board of directors of Virginia Western Community College.
He has partnered with the school to develop auto technicians,
creating a "service department classroom" with volunteer faculty
at his dealership. In recognition of the company's ongoing
support of the Roanoke Civic Center, the building was renamed
the Berglund Center.
