JEEP
The Grand Cherokee, the first new product since Fiat took control of Jeep’s owner, Chrysler Group, will have a European debut. The SUV launches in Europe in November with 3.6-liter V-6 and 5.7-liter V-8 gasoline engines. A Europeonly 225-hp 3.0-liter V-6 diesel built by Italy’s VM Motori will be available in spring 2011. Jeep will also unveil a Wrangler with a new 200-hp 2.8-liter diesel from VM Motori and stop-start technology. The Compass and Patriot models will be shown with a 163-hp 2.2-liter diesel from Mercedes-Benz, which replaces a 140-hp 2.0-liter unit previously supplied by Volkswagen.

KIA

Pop shows chic ideas
With the Pop concept for a three-seat electric car, Kia says it seeks to bring innovative design chic and dramatic styling to the city car segment. The Pop is just 3000mm long, the same length as the four-seat Toyota iQ city car and 300mm longer than the two-seat Smart ForTwo. Kia will also unveil the European-spec. successor to the Magentis large sedan, codenamed TF, in Paris. The TF is already sold in Korea as the K5 and in the U.S. as the Optima. The car will launch in Europe in mid 2011, with a choice of 200-hp 2.0-liter or 274-hp 2.4-liter directinjection gasoline engines and a diesel. A gasoline electrichybrid version could also come.

Kia Pop

LAMBORGHINI
Lamborghini will unveil a concept hinting at the design of the V-12 Murcielago replacement. The concept will feature extensive use of carbon fiber developed in conjunction with Boeing to reduce weight. The next Murcielago likely will feature a carbon fiber cockpit and aluminum front and rear sections designed to absorb energy during a crash.

LEXUS
Lexus will use Paris to launch the CT 200h, the world’s first compact premium full hybrid. The brand aims to win over younger drivers with the stylish hatchback, which was first seen at the Geneva auto show in March. The CT 200h will have a 1.6-liter engine combined with an electric motor that is in the Toyota Prius. Sales start in October.

LAND ROVER

Evoque targets women buyers
Better known for its rugged off-road vehicles mainly bought by men, Land Rover aims to win more women buyers with the Range Rover Evoque, the brand’s smallest vehicle and its first model with frontwheel-drive. Land Rover would like half of Evoque buyers to be female. The two-door SUV will be marketed as an upscale vehicle, hence the Range Rover nameplate. The Evoque uses the Land Rover Freelander platform as its starting point, but is significantly re-engineered. The Evoque and Freelander share less than 30 percent of their platform components. LOTUS
Lotus will unveil four concepts in Paris, including two hybrids. The British niche brand plans a product offensive in a five-year turnaround plan to broaden its enthusiastoriented models lineup with new cars to compete with Ferrari, Porsche and Aston Martin while boosting global sales to 8,000 cars in 2015 from about 2,500 last year.

Range Rover Evoque

4wd versions when it goes on sale in Europe next summer and in the United States in late 2011. Land Rover says the most fuel-efficient version will have CO2 emissions of less than 130g/km. A hybrid version of the Evoque is expected, although the timing is unknown.
