CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
Matschi started his career at Siemens
in 1986 as a development engineer. He
became a product manager for airbags
in 1991 and was named head of passiverestraint projects and technical business
development the following year. Matschi
later led Siemens's teams in quality and
body and chassis electronics. He rose
to become a group vice president at
Siemens VDO, which was acquired by
Continental in 2007. In 2008, Matschi
was named president of Continental's
interior division and joined the supplier's
executive board in 2009.

REASON FOR WINNING
Continental is growing faster than the
industries and markets in which it competes, and that performance is driven by
connectivity and driver assistance solutions from the division led by Matschi.
Key technologies under development include the company's first 5G solution for
a vehicle manufacturer. The product will
let vehicles "talk" to each other faster
than ever, for example, warning of accidents or of traffic jams. In autonomous
driving, Continental is launching a production version of a radar system specifically developed for driverless vehicles,
with a focus on protecting pedestrians
and cyclists in urban environments.

Müller-Ötvös was appointed Rolls-Royce
CEO in 2010 after a career spanning
more than 20 years at the ultraluxury
brand's parent, BMW Group. His rise
through the premium brand's sales and
marketing division included the successful relaunch of the Mini brand. In 2004
he was given responsibility for BMW
marketing and brand management, and
then was chosen to run BMW's product
management globally.

REASON FOR WINNING
Since Müller-Ötvös took charge of RollsRoyce, the brand has broken its global
sales record six times in nine years,
reaching a record 4,107 cars in 2018.
Last year also saw the brand launch its

first SUV, the Cullinan, which is sold out
for 2019, leading Müller-Ötvös to predict another sales record for this year.
BMW doesn't break out profits for RollsRoyce, but Müller-Ötvös says the results
also broke records in 2018.

Henrik Green

Green started at Volvo in 1996. After
fathering Volvo's successful Drive-E
engine line, he was promoted in 2011
to the executive management team
at Volvo China, where he served two
years as vice president of product
strategy. He joined Volvo Cars' top
board in 2016 as head of r&d. This
year he was promoted to chief technology officer.

REASON FOR WINNING
Green is a key reason why Volvo has
what CEO Hakan Samuelsson calls the
strongest vehicle lineup in the company's 92-year history. Under Green,
the XC60 was named 2018 World Car
of the Year, the XC40 won the 2018
European Car of the Year award, and
Volvo has become a key player in the
plug-in hybrid sector. His influence on
the future of Volvo will be on display
next year when the third-generation
XC90 arrives with a wide range of advanced driving features.
