SECOND FRONT
Nissan to
standardize
collision
repair
Number of shops
will be restricted
in each market
By GREG LAYSON
ONLINE EDITOR

NO MATTER WHERE IN
Canada that Nissan's customers live, all will have
access to a Nissan-certified
collision repair centre,
whether through a Nissan
dealership or an independent shop.
Participation in the
Nissan Certified Collision
Repair Network will be limited, with a "market lockout" restricting the number
of Nissan certified facilities
in each market area.
The program to identify, certify and promote
dealership and independent collision-repair providers across Canada will be
administered and managed
by Certified Collision Care
of Hamilton, Ont.
"We will establish a
light in every community to
provide the ultimate service
to vehicle owners and their
insurance companies," said
Certified Collision Care
Canadian Operations VicePresident Leanne Jefferies.
Certified Collision Care
is the Canadian division
of Assured Performance
Network of the United
States.
The network was created to promote certified collision-repair providers to
Nissan vehicle owners and
insurers. Enrollment for
the program was to begin
April 19 with details available online.
Certified repair shops
that are not located at a
Nissan dealership will
receive Nissan Certified
Collision Repair Network
signage and a listing on the
online shop locators.
The program promises
a certified-collision repair
provider will return the
vehicle to original specifications. - ANC

The purchase brings to

THE QUEBEC
government is pushing
the boundaries of its province-leading vehicle-electrification goals with a pilot project adding incentives on used
EVs. But some observers
warn too-tight regulations
might restrict eligible-vehicle
availability.
Effective April 1, the project began to offer a $4,000
cash rebate for the acquisition of a used electric car.
There are, however, conditions to be met before a
rebate cheque can be cut.
The program is limited to
the first 1,000 applicants who
have purchased eligible used
full-electrics.
EVs must be three or four
years old, no more, no less.
This means only 2013 and
2014 models are eligible.
The car must come from
outside Quebec to prevent
a rebate from being offered
more than once for the same
vehicle; it must be bought
or leased through a dealer
transaction, and the manufacturer's suggested retail
price must have been under
$125,000 when it was new.
Denis Dessureault, executive vice-president at the
Montreal automobile dealers' association, said the pilot
project "will be profitable for
large-format, used-car dealers
who buy most of their inventory at weekly auction, and

Steve Langdon will play

TORONTO - Longtime auto
industry executive Steve
Langdon is returning to
ADESA Canada to fill a new
position as senior director of
business development.
Langdon has left his post
as president of RSR Global, an

automotive industry finance
and insurance solutions provider, to return to ADESA
where he previously worked
in commercial sales and dealer
sales for Onlane, the precursor
to OpenLane, ADESA's internet auto auction subsidiary.

WINNIPEG - Governmentowned Manitoba Public
Insurance (MPI) denied
a $20,000 theft claim on a
Porsche reported stolen when
it was discovered the vehicle
needed major repairs before
the claim was made.
