to homebound seniors

was unveiled" at the virtual Geneva
auto show in February, which was cancelled as an in-person event due to the

ElectraMeccanica adds
Oregon retail site

ElectraMeccanica (EM) is expanding its
U.S. footprint with the planned opening of a sales kiosk at the Washington
Square Mall in suburban Portland, Ore.

For the maker of the Solo single-seat
three-wheel electric vehicle, this initial marketing push is focused on the
western United States, with similar
high-traffic mall sites in Los Angeles
and Scottsdale, Ariz. The Oregon location in a mall with an estimated 13 million shoppers a year follows EM's blueprint.
EM CEO Paul Rivera said the
Portland location, slated to open Sept. 1,
"directly aligns with our ongoing plan
to open new, direct-to-consumer retail
locations at higher-end shopping centres in EV-friendly cities."
The Solo, which will be produced in
China, will also be eligible for Oregon's
clean vehicle rebate program that offers
buyers up to US $2,500, EM said. The
car is expected to retail for US $18,500.

CHANDLER, QUE. - SINCE THE
beginning of COVID-19, Automobiles
Carmer has been lending two vehicles
- a Chevrolet Trax and a Buick Encore
- to city volunteers.
"The Knights of Columbus and the
City of Chandler have asked for our
support . . . [to deliver] meals for senior
citizens who cannot do their grocery
shopping and get out of their homes."
In March and April, more than
500 meals have been delivered to
the community, said Kathleen Cain,
Automobiles Carmer general manager.
The Racine Chevrolet-Buick-GMC
team in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu has
also pitched in to help local businesses
deliver food to people confined to their

Charity 'struck a chord' with
automaker during pandemic

dealerships and Toyota Canada have
donated $250,000 to the charitable organization La Cantine pour tous, which
works to provide food to those in need
across the province.
The dealers raised $125,000, which
was then matched dollar-for-dollar by
Toyota Canada.
Thibaud Liné, executive director
of La Cantine pour tous, said all donations will be used to fund the efforts of
22 member organizations of La Cantine
across several regions of Quebec,
"efforts that will directly benefit tens of
thousands of Quebecers affected by [the
coronavirus pandemic] through emergency basket and meal distribution programs."
The charitable movement "struck a
chord with us," said Jocelyn Daneau,
regional director for Quebec at Toyota
