CADILLAC LYRIQ CONCEPT: It will be more than two years before
the production-ready Lyriq goes on sale, but it's clear from the
concept that Cadillac is betting big on everything, from
electric range to LED screens. The Lyriq will get
more than 480 kilometres of range, said the company,
which aims to electrify the entire lineup within a
decade. The Lyriq will be powered by parent company General Motors' Ultium batteries, which it developed with LG Chem. The interior design of the vehicle
features a 33-inch LED screen.

2021 FORD BRONCO, BRONCO SPORT:

In a bid to reclaim ground it ceded to Jeep
and other rivals, Ford has resurrected the
Bronco nameplate on two new vehicles.
The Bronco is built on the same platform as
the Ranger pickup, while the Bronco Sport
shares platforms with the Ford Escape. The
Bronco caters more to the off-roading crowd
with a best-in-class maximum ground clearance of 11.6 inches, according to Ford. The
Bronco Sport is expected early next year,
according to the Ford website, with the
Bronco arriving midyear.

2021 RAM 1500 TRX: The North
American head of the Ram brand described
this 702-horsepower pickup as an "apex
predator" that "destroys" raptors. That's
a not-so-subtle reference to the Ford
F-150 Raptor. The TRX gets the
supercharged 6.2-litre V-8 from
the Dodge Hellcat line and beats
the Raptor's 450-horse twin-turbo
V-6. The TRX's fender flares add
20 centimetres of width and are
necessary to cover the large
35-inch off-road tires. The
TRX is about more than a big
engine, however. The frame
has been beefed up and there
are Bilstein-brand continuously variable off-road shock
absorbers. Pricing in Canada
starts in the $95,000 range.

2021 PORSCHE
911 TURBO:

FORD MUSTANG MACH-E 1400
PROTOTYPE: This new electric con-

cept, developed with RTR Vehicles, has
1,400 horsepower, hence the name. The
car is equipped with seven engines -
three attached to the front differential
and four in the rear - powered by a
56.8-kilowatt-hour high-performance
battery. Ford said the prototype will
debut at a NASCAR race and "serve as
a test bed for new materials," such as a
hood made of organic composite fibres
that the automaker describes as a "lightweight alternative to the carbon fibre
that comprises the rest of the vehicle."

A 572-horsepower twin-turbocharged six-cylinder
engine - a gain of 32 - is
the big news for the updated Porsche 911 Turbo. It's
available as a coupe or
convertible, accelerates to
60 mph (96 km/h) in about
2.7 seconds - 0.2 better
than the current generation - and tops out at 318
km/h. Porsche said the
Turbo is about 45 millimetres wider than the base
911 to accommodate its
