2022 BUICK ENCLAVE: The freshened Buick
Enclave arrived at Canadian dealerships this
fall with new front and rear styling. The large
crossover's 2022 update also focuses on active
safety with a suite of nine automated features,
including forward-collision alert and lane-keeping
assist that are now standard. A rear camera
mirror and head-up display are also available,
accompanying an updated centre console with a
new push-button shifter. The 2022 Enclave starts
at $50,398, including a $1,900 freight fee.
HYUNDAI SEVEN CONCEPT: Previewing an era of
near-autonomous driving, the Seven Concept is a " living
space on wheels, " according to the automaker. It has
lounge seating - including a curved sofa at the rear - in
place of conventional rows, and an " ultra slim " cockpit
that has a retractable control stick instead of a steering
wheel. Although futuristic, it is built on the current
Hyundai E-GMP electric-vehicle platform that will be used
for the Ionic 5 and the related Kia EV6. The concept targets
480 kilometres of range on a single charge.

2022 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER
The new model year of the Range Rover
breaks with tradition. The luxury SUV's
longtime four-wheel-drive system
has been replaced with all-wheel
drive, netting lower fuel consumption at
higher speeds. A third row of seats is an option
for the first time, making the 2022 Range Rover
available in four-, five- or seven-passenger configurations.
A choice of two gasoline-engine
options will be available for launch in the first
half of 2022, while a plug-in hybrid is expected
late in the year. The Range Rover starts at
$129,226, including a $2,826 destination fee.

2022 VINFAST VF E35/VF E36
Upstart automaker VinFast from
Vietnam is looking to carve out a
portion of North America's growing
electric-crossover market.
Shown for the first time at the Los
Angeles Auto Show in November,
the VF e35 (above right) and VF e36 are scheduled to arrive in Canada in
2022 through a direct-to-consumer sales model. VinFast claims an electric
range of 480 kilometres for the two-row VF e35 and 680 kilometres
for the three-row VF e36. Pricing has not been announced. - ANC
2023 TOYOTA BZ4X: The first of seven bZ-badged
battery-electric vehicles from Toyota will reach
Canadian dealers by mid-2022. The automaker has
not revealed what variants will be available, but has
shown versions of the crossover with electric
ranges between 400 and 500 kilometres. Paying
careful attention to power-supply longevity in cold
climates, Toyota is targeting 90-per-cent battery-capacity
retention through 10 years. The bZ4X has a
roomy interior with a large digital dashboard display.
Pricing has not been announced.
