A new Ford home on native land
The relocated store straddles
the line between corporate
identity and Tsuut'ina culture

FORD CANADA AND METRO FORD IN
Calgary marked a series of firsts with
the recent grand opening of the automaker's
inaugural franchised dealership on
Indigenous land.
The 80,000-squarefoot
(7,400-square-metre)
" Signature " design structure,
built on 8.5 acres (3.5
hectares), is an anchor
for the Taza Park business
development within
the Tsuut'ina nation
on Calgary's western outskirts.
The groundbreaking
took place in August
2021 with Metro Ford
relocating from its longtime
location in central
Calgary.

Tesla plans B.C. delivery
centre for up to 650 cars
PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. -
Tesla Canada and partner
Bosa Properties are seeking
approval from the city council
of Vancouver suburb Port
Coquitlam for a 60,000-squarefoot
(5,600-square-metre)
delivery centre, according to
the local publication TriCity
News.
If approved, the facility
would become the primary
repository for vehicles arriving
from the United States
and China, providing space
for up to 650 vehicles before
they are delivered to buyers
in Vancouver and surrounding
cities. It would also carry
out some sales operations,
handle parts distribution and
serve as a hub for Tesla's service
operation, according to
the report.
The site along the Lougheed
Highway, a major local thoroughfare,
requires rezoning
before construction can proceed.

Mazda store purchase
'complements' group
GUELPH, ONT. - THE
Queenston Automotive Group
added a fifth new-vehicle store to
its growing portfolio.
The group said it closed on the
purchase of Guelph City Mazda
on July 1. Terms of the deal were
not disclosed. The dealership is
located in a large auto mall on the
western edge of Guelph, about 100
kilometres west of Toronto.
The acquisition raises
Queenston Automotive's store
count in the city to three. The
company also owns Guelph
Nissan and Guelph Infiniti,
which share a rooftop near the
Mazda location.
